Miso Salmon Recipe with Sesame and Green Onions on a Bed of Rice.

Fun fact about me: I love The Cheesecake Factory. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in Canada and The Cheesecake Factory was a novelty or because I’m a sucker for a huge menu, but when in doubt, I’ll probably go to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Will choose

If you haven’t tried it, the miso salmon from The Cheesecake Factory is really delicious! This is my go-to protein and I just love the sweet and salty taste.

It’s about time I recreated the recipe at home! So while I would never say no to The Cheesecake Factory, this miso salmon recipe really is more than comparable and gives me a little taste of CF at home!

What is miso?

Miso is a fermented paste made from soybeans and koji, which is a type of mold. Its texture is thick like peanut butter.

Because it’s fermented it contains gut-healthy probiotics. So in addition to the health benefits of salmon, Miso Glazed Salmon is actually a super healthy recipe!

Miso can be found in most mainstream grocery stores as well as Asian-focused grocery stores. Because it is a fermented soybean paste, it will last for 3-6 months in your refrigerator. A big bang for your buck!

Ingredients for Miso Glazed Salmon

salmon fillet – Try to buy high quality salmon as it is flakier and has a better overall flavor.

miso paste – Packs a huge umami punch! You can use either white miso or red miso for this recipe.

soy sauce – I prefer low sodium soy sauce (feel free to add more or less salt as per your preference). You can also substitute tamari or coconut aminos if gluten-free.

rice vinegar The acidity pairs well with the umami from the miso and the sweetness of the honey. You can also use the more traditional mirin if you have it on hand.

Madhu – Just a little bit of sweetness in the marinade.

Sesame seeds For garnish.

What to Serve With Miso Glazed Salmon

I usually like to serve my miso salmon with rice as part of a salmon bowl recipe. However here are some delicious sides that pair beautifully with this Miso Glazed Salmon:

Can You Eat Salmon Skin?

Absolutely! Like other fish, salmon skin is a wonderful source of nutrition, providing polyunsaturated fats called omega-3 fatty acids. If you don’t like the skin, you can always take it off before eating.

how to store

Store your miso salmon leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in microwave or oven. To be honest, it won’t taste as good reheated but it will work in a pinch!
