Menopausal weight gain is experienced by most women going through menopause. Although both men and women gain weight as they age, for women, the weight gain is likely due to menopause.

It appears that menopause weight gain transcends in the middle section of a woman’s body, i.e. the stomach. This happens because the quantity of hormone estrogen begins to lower significantly. Therefore, women will see those extra pounds settling more on their bellies than any other body part.

At this time dieting is a struggle. As a result, it seems nearly impossible to stop weight gain during menopause.

This doesn’t mean you should accept menopause weight gain as a new part of your life!

Fight Menopause Weight Gain Back!

In order to combat menopausal weight gain, you must first be aware of the dangers of high-calorie foods. Such foods are usually high in sugar and fats. They’re also packaged foods.

Awareness about these foods is necessary so you can either reduce your intake of them or avoid them altogether. Once this is done, increase your intake of fresh vegetables and fruits – both which are healthy for your diet.

Regular exercise is another way to fight menopause weight gain. Exercise is more important than ever at this point in a woman’s life. This is because the risk of a heart attack increases with fat being stored in their abdomens.

Hormone Replacement Therapy or HRT is also preventive against menopausal weight gain. However, only doctors can administer these treatments, which do carry some risks. Moreover, this treatment isn’t recommended for all women.

Avoid crash diets. They don’t work before menopause, and they certainly won’t work during it. Instead find a healthy eating plan that you can maintain throughout your menopausal years. Be sure to consult your doctor before starting any weight loss program, especially if you have any health conditions.
