When different governments around the world try to convince people to stop smoking, they always seem to go down the health path. It can show a person who is dying of cancer for example. I was aware of all the health risks associated with smoking, but I did it nonetheless. This was because these health problems in my own mind were unlikely to affect me for almost thirty years. I used to tell myself that there is a good chance that I will not be alive in thirty years and I should live for today. I will also try to convince myself that if I live for another thirty years, there is a good chance that they will get treatment for cancer. When I decided to stop smoking, health was one of the reasons why I wanted to quit, but it was not the main reason.

The main reason was without financial doubt. The price of a pack of twenty cigarettes in the UK has gone up over the years. It is not that I cannot continue to buy them, it is that I will spend money on other things like clothes or vacation. I have worked out that I now save more than a thousand pounds a year by not smoking. This is a lot of money for me and I always used to think that when the demons in my head were trying to convince me to drink just one last cigarette.
There were definitely other reasons why I wanted to stop smoking. These include the amount they sniff your clothes, the amount that makes your home smelly, they affect your teeth, the fact that most women stop smoking, and the sheer dependence that someone has Can be found with cigarettes. For example, I feel a little stressed, so I should smoke cigarettes. I am drinking coffee, so I should smoke cigarettes.
It was challenging to stop smoking cigarettes but all efforts are more for it.
